CT I’s responsibilities also include representing Siemens in committees for the establishment of international norms and standards, acting as the central contact point for issues connected with the environmental compatibility and technical safety of products and processes, and issuing appropriate regulations, such as the Siemens-wide environmental standards. This central function is particularly significant in view of the tremendous breadth of Siemens’ environmental portfolio, which accounted for nearly €19 billion in sales in business year 2008. One of the responsibilities of Prof. Hermann Requardt, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Head of Corporate Technology, is fostering synergies throughout Siemens. The crucial requirement for this job is the ability to recognize trends at an early stage, identify new technologies, and make these technologies available in an efficient and effective manner. Requardt receives vital support for these missions from the employees of the Chief Technology Office.
